The adidas Crazy 3 is a Rare Blast From the Past

Adidas KB8-3-Crazy3 - Away-Side

We’ve said it a million times, adidas has been making waves lately. The Three Stripes has been serving us hit after hit after hit, especially with its recent basketball lineup of the adidas CrazyLight Boost 2016, adidas D Rose 7, and the surprising WearTesters favorite, the adidas Crazy Explosive. That’s not to say adidas hasn’t been cooking with its retro line. Now we have an official look at the adidas Crazy 3, formerly known as the Adidas EQT KB8 Three.

The adidas Crazy 3 was last worn by Kobe Bryant back in 1999 before adidas decided to transition into the direct ‘Kobe’ line (the shoe that looked like an Audi TT). This model was one of the last models to ever feature the ‘Feet You Wear’ technology that provided super responsive cushioning and responsiveness while keeping your feet as close to the ground as possible. The upper of the of this particular model seems to feature a synthetic and suede along with an Adiprene+ outsole along with traditional lacing for lockdown. These two particular pairs seem to also pay homage to the recently retired ‘Black Mamba’ with their ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ Lakers colorways and we’re not even mad about that.

There is no tentative release date or pricing yet for the adidas Crazy 3 retro so make sure you keep it locked on WearTesters for the latest information. In the meantime, let us know what you think of this old school flavor and sound off in the comment section.

  1. Im going to pass on this one. I like the CW but not the model. But adidas needs to keep them retros coming like the Kobe 1 or Crazy 8 in Kobe PE CWs or even some of the TS Series or Garnett signatures like the a3.. Maybe update it with bounce or even boost lol.

  2. I’ve always like these Feet You Wear outsoles. Heres an idea: can they put boost or bounce on a sole like this, or puremotion, or that super articulated puremotion that they had on every shoe two years ago? I had the Crazyquick, and I really like the feel of the sole, but the cushioning was just a little above concrete. With boost that setup could really work.

    1. +1. I always thought about the feet you wear plus boost. The Crazy Quick 1’s with boost would of been fire.

    2. That was my “dream shoe” from a year or 2 ago – original popular pure motion with boost in each pod. Drooling.

  3. Any word on cushion? I hope itso adiprene and not EVA. I wish they would have done adiprene on the kobe 1 retro too.

  4. I had these back in 1999. Loved them then and will love them now.
One question though, where has that big torsion plate gone?

    1. do you mean right after this shoe? or at present?

I believe Adidas dropped it in favor of the X-Bar and stableframe if you are asking currently.

    1. the product code is b72769. I checked on google, apparently these released overseas. in the later half of 2016

  5. How’s the quality on these retros as I located a online retailer with them. Don’t want them if they’re like kb8 ii aka crazy 2 quality
