2 Chainz Discusses His New Adidas Sneaker Deal

A hip hop artist getting a signature sneaker isn’t something that usually makes it onto Kicks On Court but I found the interview with 2 Chainz fairly interesting.

He said right from the get-go that he was ‘getting his Jordan on’, having his own sneaker with a brand and all… that statement makes sense… in a weird way. On a personal level, there is no way anyone but an athlete can get their ‘Jordan on’ when it comes to shoes but I do know what he was trying to say and understand his enthusiasm.

With that, how do you, the athletes, feel about hip hop artists getting signature kicks? Maybe you don’t pay any attention to it or maybe it irritates you to a certain degree. Either way, comment below and let me know.

  1. i’m fine with them having their own shoes, but if they dare to put themselves above or even at the same levels as Jordans… that would be just ridiculous. looking at kanye west when he said that he made jordans popular. gosh what a stupid thing to say.

  2. Rappers or musicians in general having shoe deals doesn’t really bother me. 2Chainz might just be creating shoes that he finds attractive. A person like Kanye West or Action Bronson (Might even put Drake in there) wear Nike, Adidas or New Balance, I think they wear them from a style AND performance perspective. I mean Kanye didn’t have to put mesh, Torch, and Max Air in the Yeezy II’s, but I think he did because:
    1. It looks good
    2. He’s gonna be on tour, night after night, hopping around for hours rapping. Might as well make a shoe that feels good to wear for hours too.
I kinda looked at it the same way when Puma signed Meek Mill and he Instagramed pictures of the Puma Bioweb Elite all the time. Meek Mill and a regular athlete are both going to be able to give you honest opinion on comfort and durability of a sneaker because their both going to going put it through rounds of work, just at different intensity levels lol.
